Warriors Smash Lions to Stay Perfect on Spring Break Trip

AVE MARIA, Fla. – The Indiana Tech baseball won its fifth game in a row on Tuesday afternoon as the Warriors defeated Florida Memorial, 13-0, at Bowie's Ballpark.

Charlie Sipe went 2-5 with 3 RBI's and a home run, Mark Carpenter and Robert Nagel drove in two runs and Peyton Newsome homered as well. Branson Dossen went 3-3 with a walk and a sacrifice fly, hitting a triple. Brian Gremaux recorded his first win of the season by pitching five innings of two-hit baseball, striking out six and walking two. Cody Kellar, Jacob Koehring, Chase Keathley and Nick Romie combined to throw four innings of one-hit ball as Tech recorded its fifth shutout of the year. The Warriors would collect 17 hits and take advantage of six Lions errors.

Newsom's homer to center kicked things off in the second inning as the Orange and Black pushed three runs across the plate. Dossen would triple two batters later and Carpenter would drive him in the next at-bat, while taking second on a Lions throwing error before scoring on Zach Fyfe's single.

Tech would score four more runs in the fifth with Fyfe stealing home and Sipe smashing a two-run homer to center to make it 8-0 as they improved to 4-0 on their Spring Break trip.
