GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The No. 7/5 (NAIA/NWLL) Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team opened Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action Wednesday evening with a 17-5 victory over Aquinas at Aquinas College Athletic Field.
The Warriors have now scored at least 17 goals or more in every game this season.
Alexa Winter continued her offensive explosion with six goals and an assist against the Saints.
Kristina Scott added three goals, four ground balls and seven draw controls while
Jennifer Banks and
Sam Vikstrom each had two goals apiece. Vikstrom also picked up four ground balls along with
Dakota Dawson and Porchia Turner.
Meaghan Eldridge made two saves in 30 minutes to pick up her fourth win of the season and allowed just two goals.
Like their previous three games this season, Tech scored quickly into the game, this time it was
Tayler Campbell getting the Orange and Black on the board just 26 seconds into the game. The Saints would tie it up at the 27:24 mark, but the Warriors would respond with five straight goals in the next 10 minutes to take a 6-1 lead.
The hosts would add their second goal at 17:26, but the visitors would answer with another five unanswered goals to take an 11-2 lead at halftime.
The trio of Winter, Scott and Vikstrom would provide all the scoring of coach
Jason Allen in the second half as each recorded two goals each while the Warriors defense continued to shut down the Saints as they cruised to their fourth straight win.
The Orange and Black dominated the ground ball, picking up 26 while limiting the Saints to 11, while also controlling the draw control battle, 14-8.
Tech (4-0, 1-0 WHAC) opens up its home slate on Saturday when they welcome in WHAC rival Lawrence Tech, ranked third in both the NAIA and NWLL. Game time is set for 1 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field and links to live stats will be available at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
