FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 7/5 (NAIA/NWLL) Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team opened its 2016 home schedule on Saturday afternoon with a 10-8 upset victory over No. 3/3 Lawrence Tech at Warrior Athletic Field.
 
Alexa Winter scored five goals in the game and picked up an assist in the win while picking up three ground balls. Kristina Scott and Jennifer Banks each scored twice for the Warriors while Aubri Hazen added four ground balls and a goal. Meaghan Eldridge made eight saves in 60 minutes to pick up fifth win of the year.
 
The two sides battled back-and-forth all game with seven lead changes and six ties. The teams found themselves in the same place they started the game at halftime all knotted up at four.
 
After the Blue Devils took a 6-5 lead with 13:26 to go, the Warriors would respond with five unanswered goals, including three in 59 seconds to take a 10-6 lead and just under five minutes to play. Banks would score the game-tying goal at 11:37 while Scott had the game-winner at 9:55 as both would take advantage of free-position shots.
 
Lawrence Tech would score twice with under 2:38 to go, but Eldridge would make a huge save on a free position shot with 50 seconds to play as the Orange and Black ran out the clock to seal the win.
 
Tech (5-0, 2-0 WHAC) returns to action on Wednesday as they travel to #10/(RV) Siena Heights for a WHAC showdown. Start time is set for 7 p.m. from O'Laughlin Stadium.
