Warriors Fall Late to Gray Wolves

SYLVANIA, Ohio – The No. 3/17 (NAIA/MCLA) Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team fell to No. 5/14 Lourdes in a hard-fought 14-13 game on Wednesday evening at Wildcat Stadium.
 
Jace Childs had a team-high four goals and eight ground balls while picking up two assists. Brian Nichter, Noah Puckett, Carlos Matta and Brandon Gates each had two goals each, with Nichter adding two assists and five ground balls and Puckett picking up a pair of assists and three ground balls. Aidan Jarmus was 14-28 on face-offs while Joseph Dosen made nine saves in the loss.

The Warriors jumped over the Gray Wolves early, scoring two goals in the opening six and a half minutes before adding a third with nine seconds to go in the period to lead 3-1 after 15 minutes. Lourdes would score six goals in the second though, two on man-up opportunities, and went into halftime all knotted up at seven-all.
 
Matta would score at the 10:57 mark in the third to give Tech an 8-7 lead, but the hosts would score twice in the next minute and 40 seconds to retake the lead. The Orange and Black would respond with goals from Gates and William McKinney, but the Gray Wolves would score four unanswered goals to take the lead for good at 13-10.
 
Nichter's second goal at 2:21, just 14 seconds after Lourdes went up 14-12, gave the Warriors a chance in the final two minutes, but Tech was only able to get one shot on goal while committing two turnovers.
 
Tech (2-2, 1-1 WHAC) travels to Marshall, Missouri this weekend for a pair of games against Saint Gregory's and Missouri Valley. The Warriors will take on Saint Gregory's at 2 p.m. on Friday before facing with Missouri Valley at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
