FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech softball fell to crosstown rival Saint Francis on Wednesday in a doubleheader at Lady Cougar Field, falling 8-0 in five innings in game one and dropping a 9-4 game in the night cap.
The Cougars jumped all over the Warriors in the first game, scoring three runs in the first inning before scoring five more in the fourth while limiting Tech to just one hit in five innings.
The Orange and Black staved off being runned-ruled in the second game with a two-out rally, scoring twice on three hits and taking advantage of a USF error to make it an 8-2 game.
Amber Frye kicked it off with a single before
Alli Watson advanced her to third with a hit. An error from the Cougar shortstop would score the pair.
The Orange and Black would add another two runs in the sixth with a double from
Hannah Foltz to plate Caitlyn Walker and
Cassandra Mendoza to make it 9-4, but the hosts would hang on for the sweep.
Tech returns to action on Monday with a pair of games at Indiana Wesleyan. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
