Warriors Clinch Share of WHAC with Win over Panthers

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 4 Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team clinched a share of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) regular season title with a 12-11 win over No. 3 Davenport on Saturday afternoon at Warrior Athletic Field.
 
Kristian Scott and Sam Vikstrom each recorded a hat trick while Scott recorded six ground balls and a pair of assists. Vikstrom added a game-high nine ground balls, seven caused turnovers and four draw controls. Alexa Winter and Tayler Campbell each recorded two goals apiece with the latter causing two turnovers. Aubri Hazen finished with six draw controls and two caused turnovers while Meaghan Eldridge made seven saves to pick up the win.
 
The Warriors would race out to a 3-0 lead over the Panthers, with Scott scoring first just 66 seconds into the game. Davenport would battle back to tie it up at four with 8:08 to go in the first half, but Tech would score twice in the last two and a half minutes of the game, first being a-woman down and then scoring on a woman-up advantage with 29 seconds to play in the half to go up 7-5 after 30 minutes.
 
The second half was just as intense as the first with the visitors overcoming a 10-7 deficit to tie it up at 11 with 1:59 to go in the game. Vikstrom would earn the draw after the game-tying goal from Brooke Knoll and then would score the game-winning goal with 33 seconds to go after getting the ball back from Scott. Hazen would then seal the victory by winning the draw control for the Warriors as they clinched their second WHAC regular season championship in program history.
 
Tech (13-1, 9-1 WHAC) will have to wait till Sunday afternoon with the release of the LaxPower.com RPI ratings to determine if they will host the WHAC Tournament. Semifinal action will be contested on Friday, April 22 with the finals being played on Saturday, April 23 at the top seed.
