FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 3/3 (NAIA/NWLL) Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team team returned to its winning ways on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) foe Aquinas, 20-0, on a windy, snowy day at Warrior Athletic Field.
Alexa Winter had a team-high six goals and an assist while earning one draw control and going 1-1 on free-position shots. Reigning NAIA, NWLL and WHAC Defensive Player of the Week
Sam Vikstrom had four goals, one assist, seven ground balls, five caused turnovers and four draw controls while also going 1-1 on free-position shots.
Jennifer Banks,
Tayler Campbell and
Dakota Dawson each score two goals apiece with Banks and Dawson each dishing out a pair of assists as well.
Heidi Tremaine added five ground balls, two caused turnovers, two draw controls and a pair of assists while Meghan Eldridge earned the win after pitching a shutout in the first half.
The Warriors took the lead 33 seconds into the game after Winter took the pass from
Aubri Hazen and buried it in the back of the net. The Orange and Black would score six more times in the next nine minutes and scored their 10
th goal of the game at the 12:52 mark.
Head coach
Jason Allen's team dominated all facets of the game, winning the shots battle, 25-3, and had a 21-1 advantage in shots on goal. Tech picked up 29 ground balls in all while going 10-10 on clear opportunities and caused 29 Saints turnovers.
Tech (8-1, 5-1 WHAC) returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to Southfield, Michigan for a rematch with No. 5/5 Lawrence Tech. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
