FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's tennis team picked up their first win of the season on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) foe Cornerstone, 6-3, at Wildwood Racquet Club.
The Warriors top two doubles teams of
Anabell Cordero and
Barbara Belli de Oliveira and
Raquel Manzoni and
Kayla Morrell each won their respective matches by a 8-2 score to take a 2-1 lead into singles play.
Manzoni and Cordero would each win 6-1, 6-2 at one and two singles, respectively, while Belli de Oliveria got a double-bagel 6-0, 6-0 victory at three singles. Morrell would drop her first set at four singles but rallied back for a 1-6, 6-1, 12-10 three-set thriller.
Tech (1-8, 1-1 WHAC) returns to the courts on Wednesday with a nonconference match against Grace College. Start time is set for 1 p.m. from Swinney Courts.
