FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team begins its postseason schedule on Friday when they open up Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association (CCLA) play with a quarterfinals matchup at Lourdes.
The Warriors, ranked 20
th in the latest Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) Top 25 Poll, head into the postseason with a 5-8 mark overall and 1-2 record in CCLA West play. Tech is 2-2 against teams from the CCLA East, which includes 11
th-ranked Lourdes.
The Orange and Black have faced off with one of the most difficult schedules in the nation, with all 13 opponents on the schedule being ranked or receiving votes in either the NAIA or MCLA Polls.
Offensively Tech is led by sophomore
Jace Childs, who leads the team with 40 goals and 55 points. The Burnsville, Minnesota native also paces the team in ground balls with 73.
William McKinney is another offensive force for seventh-year head coach
Terry Nichter with 26 goals and 16 assists.
Seniors
Brian Nichter and
Carlos Matta also pack a bunch offensively with the duo combining for 29 goals while the former leads the team in assists with 19 and 75.4% of his shots are on goal.
In the faceoff circle,
Aidan Jarmus and
Lee Raymond have combined to win over 52% of their opportunities while Jarmus is second on the team in ground balls with 46.
Joseph Dosen has been the man in goal this season for Tech with a .454 save percentage and 11.72 goals against average in 635 minutes of action.
The other quarterfinal contests feature Lawrence Tech at Siena Heights, Grove City at Grand Valley State, and Aquinas at Dayton.
The semifinals will take place April 29 with the championship slated for April 30 at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Game time is set for 3 p.m. from Wildcat Stadium in Sylvania, Ohio. Admission is $5 for individuals 10 and older, with children nine and younger being admitted free. Links to live stats will be available at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
