ADRIAN, Mich. – The Indiana Tech softball team was swept by Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) foe Siena Heights in their conference opener on Sunday afternoon at Christensen Field, 12-9, and 8-3.
Caitlyn Walter went 2-5 with two RBI's and two runs and
Maggie McCrory had an RBI while
Tori Simper went 1-4 with a double.
Tech scored nine runs on six hits in the first game and took advantage of six Saints errors to score nine runs, with eight coming in third inning, but the hosts scored four times in the bottom of the third inning to take an 11-9 lead and take the first game after a four hour and 10 minute cold delay.
Hannah Foltz went 1-3 with a double and two RBI's in game two while
Kaitlyn Lipinski homered. Walter would also have a double in the nightcap.
Jamie Kilps went 5.2 innings and struck out four in the loss.
The Saints would score four runs in the off four hits while the Warriors would cut the deficit to one in the top of the third after the Lipinski homer and a pair of doubles. The hosts would score three times in the sixth though to complete the sweep.
Tech (11-19, 0-2 WHAC) returns to action on Saturday with their home opener against Concordia. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. from Havenhurst Park.
