FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team concluded their pre-Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) slate with a 6-0 win over Rochester College (Mich.) on Saturday evening at Warriors Athletic Center.
"It was an emotional week for the team and my family," head coach
David Bokhart said. "But, if nothing else, we are all a bit stubborn and just determined to get the job done."
Tech got off to a fast start with
Roman Schindler scoring his fifth goal of the season in the 16
th minute to go up 1-0, while
Ryan Hayhurst made it 2-0 in the 25
th minute with a header off the
Andrew Higgins.
The Orange and Black would continue the scoring barrage in the second half as
Richard Doll made it 3-0 in the 47
th minute while Schindler notched his second of the game eight minutes later to put the hosts up 4-0.
Mitch Smith and
Max Kummer would both add goals in the 85
th and 89
th minute, respectively.
Adam Viviano made two saves for his second shutout of the season.
"It was a great achievement to go unbeaten during the pre-WHAC schedule," Bokhart said. "But the season really begins next Saturday at Concordia. They may be the most improved program in the NAIA and it will take a great week to go up there and start our league campaign off with three points."
Tech (6-0-0) travels to Ann Arbor, Michigan next Saturday for their conference opener against Concordia. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. from Cardinal Stadium.
