KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The No. 22-ranked Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team fell to Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League (GLCHL) foe Western Michigan, 8-3, in the final game of the I-69 Cup at Wings West Arena.
The Warriors would build a 2-0 early in the first period with
Adam Jonak and
Ryan Attwood lighting the lamp, but the Stallions would convert two power play goals in the second half of the period to tie the game up.
A
Nick Papandrea goal would give the Orange and Black a 3-2 in the second, but Western Michigan would respond with six straight goals, including three with a man-advantage in the third period, while Brandon Grillo collected his second hat trick in as many days, as the Stallions would retain the I-69 Cup for the second straight year.
Tech (13-14-1, 7-7-0 GLCHL) returns to action on Friday, January 27, when they host No. 10-ranked Michigan-Dearborn on Senior Night. Puck drop is set for 8:30 p.m. at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
