FREMONT, Neb. – The No. 22-ranked Indiana Tech ACHA Division 1 men's ice hockey team fell to No. 18-ranked Midland, 6-3, on Saturday evening at Sidner Ice Arena in non-league action.
Trailing 1-0 after 20 minutes, the visiting Warriors would score two goals in the first four and a h half minutes of the second, with
Ryan Attwood and
Jarrett Pfeiffer lighting the lamp. The host Warriors though, would tie it up at two at 5:29 in the second, only to see
Dylan Grant give the Orange and Black a 3-2 lead at 7:27 on the power play. Midland would get the last score of the period though, as Bradley Hepler beat
Chet Tooker with just four seconds left in the period to send the teams tied up at three after 40 minutes.
Midland would own the final period though, scoring three times and outshooting Tech 15-6 in the third to come away with the 6-3 win and the weekend sweep.
Ryan Theisen and
Dominick Manochio would each tally two assists each while Pfeiffer assisted on Attwood's goal to record two points on the night. Tooker made 32 saves in the loss.
Tech (13-10-1) returns to Fort Wayne on Friday when they host No. 2-ranked Adrian in Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League (GLCHL) play. The Warriors will also be hosting a Cervical Cancer Awareness Night Friday and will sport teal laces on their skates. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. from the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
