Tech Holds Off Lourdes to Complete Sweep, Fall Season

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech baseball team concluded its fall season Sunday afternoon at Warrior Field with a 9-6 win over Lourdes in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play to complete the three-game sweep.

The Warriors would take the lead right off the bat as they pushed across three runs in the bottom of the first. Following back-to-back walks and a bunt single, Grant Heisinger would single to left to put Tech on the board while the hosts tacked on two more runs in the next at-bat thanks to a fielder's choice and error.

The Gray Wolves would cut the lead to one in fourth thanks to a triple and a double in back-to-back at-bats before using an RBI single from Dallas Riggs to tie the game up in the fifth. The tie would be short-lived though, as Matt Bandor drew a one-out walk in the bottom half of the frame and came around to score two batters later on Dillin Diehm's sacrifice fly.

Taylor Nychyk would drive in Kelvin Flores with a double to left in the sixth to make it 5-3 while Daniel Johnson II drove in Nychyk's pinch runner, Shoma Sasaki, with a sacrifice fly to get the lead back to three.

Chase Nistor would work out of a bases-loaded jam with nobody out in the seventh, allowing just two runs but maintaining the lead, while the Warrior offense provided some extra insurance after the stretch as Ryan Meisenheimer knocked in two runs with a single before coming around to score two batters later on Dominic Giuliani's sacrifice fly.

Joe Pratt would allow just one base runner over the final two innings in a ninth inning walk to pick up the save while Joe Wolf was credited with the win.

Tech finishes the fall slate with a 5-1 record in WHAC play and will resume play in the spring.
