Tech Outlasts Mustangs for Senior Day Victory

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team got back to their winning ways on Saturday afternoon as they topped Marygrove, 3-2, in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action at Warrior Athletic Field.

Senior Andrew Higgins would kick things off for the Warriors with his third goal of the season in the 11th minute for the 1-0 early advantage. The Mustangs would seize an opportunity to tie the game quickly though, capitalizing on the shot from Gbenga Mike Ayanwale for the score to knot things up at one apiece in the 21st minute. The remainder of the first half provided a defensive battle that would keep both squads locked in a 1-1 tie heading into the break.

Tech didn't waste much time to open the second half as Brennan Cochran found Richard Doll for his third goal of the season coming in the 59th minute to provide the Warriors a 2-1 lead. The rise in offensive play continued as the Warriors advanced their lead to 3-1 in the 61st minute as Doll would find Johender Mendoza for the score on his third goal of the season.

Marygrove would manage to add one more score on an unassisted shot from Mo Sayed, cutting Tech's lead to just one in the 72nd minute, but the Warriors would hold off their opponents the remainder of the contest for the 3-2 victory on Senior Day.

Edwin Rosado would make four saves for the Orange and Black in the win.

Tech (9-5-0, 5-2-0 WHAC) returns to action on Wednesday as they host Siena Heights in a 7 p.m. matchup from Warrior Athletic Field.
