DEARBORN, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team swept Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) foe University of Michigan-Dearborn (25-14, 25-17, 27-25) Wednesday night at UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
Olivia Niekamp would lead the match with 10 kills for the Warriors.
Karli Jones would register 13 assists on the contest, while
Autumn Stokes finished her night with 12 of her own.
Madeline MacDonald would round out the top performers for Tech with 15 digs.
The Orange and Black kicked off the night on a 7-3 run behind dominating offensive play. Back-to-back service aces from
Mara Zell topped off with a Niekamp kill helped propel Tech to a seven-point advantage at 13-5. A 7-0 run from the Warriors would eventually give way to a 25-14 opening set advantage.
Heading into set two, the Wolverines would be the first to strike early, jumping ahead 6-3. Tech would eventually tie things at seven apiece, which would transition much of the set to becoming a back-and-forth battle between the two squads. After things became knotted at 15-15, the Orange and Black would have two kills from Niekamp to push the Warriors ahead 18-15, which would later give way to the 25-17 decision.
Tech would establish the pace early in the third set before their opponents would dig in to steal away the lead and go ahead 11-9 and eventually put the hosts down as much five, 19-14. A string of points from the Warriors would tie things at 21-21 and with three kills from
Jordan Aylward, Tech would secure the 27-25 set score and nail down the 3-0 match sweep
The Orange and Black (13-18, 4-7 WHAC) will return to action on Friday as they host Rochester in a WHAC match-up set for 7 p.m. at Schaefer Center.
