KENT, Ohio – The Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team continued to find ways to win games on Saturday evening as they defeated ACHA Division I No. 24-ranked Kent State, 6-3, at the Kent State Ice Arena for their sixth straight win to start the season.

"I was happy with the win but we need to play a full 60 minutes," head coach
Frank DiCristofaro said. "We had a big lapse in the third period which hurt us. We need to finish games hard and not take shifts off."

The Warriors would get on the board first at 15:26 in the first period as
Stavros Soilis lit the lamp for his fourth goal of the year while
Felix Kronwall and
Brian Skillicorn would tack on goals in the second to give Tech a 3-0 lead heading into the third.

Kent State would find some life to start the final period of regulation with three goals in the first five minutes of the period, including two in 13 seconds to tie the game with 15:06 to go. The visitors would get back to work quickly though, with
Zach Bennett scoring the eventual game-winning goal on the power play at the 12:34 mark,

Bennett would add another goal at 5:45, his team-leading sixth of the year, while Soilis had an empty-netter with 29 seconds left to give the Warriors the comfortable 6-3 win.

Zach Larson made 30 saves in net to pick up the win and
Joe Molfetta tallied three assists, while
Jace Childs and
Adam Jonak had two assists each.

Tech (6-0-0) returns to action next weekend as they take on Aquinas in a home-and-home set. Friday's game will take place at Southside Ice Arena in Byron Center, Michigan at 7:30 p.m. while Saturday's game will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the SportONE/Parkview Ice House.
