FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team wrapped up their regular season home slate on Wednesday evening as they tied with Madonna, 1-1, in double overtime at Warrior Athletic Field.
The Crusaders would take the early lead as Nicolette Vultaggio beat Tech keeper
Chloe Parker in the fifth minute to put the visitors up 1-0. The Warriors would respond quickly though as
Tori Singstock notched her 11
th goal of the season, and 65
th of her career, by hammering it home from the corner of the box, to tie up at 1-1.
Both sides would have chances to win the game in regulation, but Parker and MU keeper Julia Stewart would each stand tall in the net and keep the game knotted up at 1-1.
The Warriors best chance in the overtime session came on a scramble in front of the net in the 94
th minute as a blast from Singstock was saved by Stewart, but the rebound found the foot of
Shelby Lucas, who let it fly, but her shot was deflected by a Crusader defender and the visitors escaped.
Madonna would find their opportunity four minutes later as Vultaggio appeared to beat Parker for the game-winning goal, but
Sydney Lemelin saved the day as she hustled through the box to get a foot on the ball and keep it from rolling into the back of the net.
Parker made a career-high 12 saves in net while
Lily Rothert was credited with the assist on Singstock's goal. Singstock now stands just one goal away from tying former standout Kara Walker record for career goals.
The Warriors sit in fifth place in the WHAC with 14 points, just one point behind Concordia for fourth.
Tech (7-7-2, 4-3-2 WHAC) concludes the regular season on Saturday as they travel to Pontiac, Michigan for a battle with Rochester. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. from the Ultimate Soccer Arena.
