FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team remained unbeaten in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play on Friday evening as they played to a 2-2 double overtime draw with Cornerstone at Warrior Athletic Field.
Kayla Saffran put the Warriors up 1-0 in the 31
st minute as she headed in the corner kick from
Lily Rothert and while the hosts held a one-goal advantage at the half, the Golden Eagles would tack on goals in 63
rd and 66
th minute to take a 2-1 lead.
Tori Singstock would make the Cornerstone lead short-lived however, as she juked past the defender and blasted one into the net just inside the box in the 69
th minute to make it 2-2. Both sides would manage just one shot on goal in the final 20 minutes of regulation as the conference foes headed to overtime.
Each team would have a pair of chances in both sessions, but Tech keeper
Christina Wynn and CU goalie Mikayla Johnson would keep their respective teams alive as each side earned a point from the draw.
Wynn finished the game with seven saves in net.
Tech (7-4-1, 4-0-1 WHAC) returns to action on Wednesday, October 11 as they host defending national champion and third-ranked University of Northwestern Ohio. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field.
