NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team won its third game in row Wednesday evening as they defeated Holy Cross, 77-66, in nonconference action at McKenna Arena.
Darren Groves scored a team-high 15 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked two shots while
Max Huber added 13 points off the bench.
Nic Williams and
Joel Wincowski each chipped in 12 points each with the former collecting six rebounds while the former went 5-5 from the field.
The Warriors opened up the game with the lead as Groves knocked down a three-pointer to spark an 8-4 run. Holy Cross would cut the deficit to 8-7 before tying the game up at 10-10 at the 13:57 mark before Tech went on a 7-0 run to retake the lead.
The Orange and Black would continue to build their lead through the rest of the first half, going up by as many as 14 points at 37-23 with 2:48 left in the half and went into the locker room leading 39-27.
The Saints would cut the deficit to eight just over a minute into the second half, but the visitors would go on a 13-2 to grow their lead to 19 at 52-33 with 14:01 left in the game. Huber would then go on a 7-2 run of his own, scoring three straight possessions for the Warriors as they gained their largest lead of the game at 61-40 and cruised to the 77-66 win
Tech (3-0) continues their season-opening road trip with a visit to Bourbonnais, Illinois as they take on Olivet Nazarene. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. EDT from McHie Arena.
