Box Score AMES, Iowa – The Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team concluded their fall semester schedule on Saturday evening as they defeated ACHA Division I No. 12-ranked Iowa State, 7-3, at the Ames/ISU Ice Arena.
"We played with good pace today and were resilient on the puck," head coach
Frank DiCristofaro said. "
John Slavik also made some key saves at key times when they were able to sustain pressure. Overall, I'm happy with the way we ended the semester."
Tech would start off the game strong with two goals in the opening 10 minutes of play, but the Cyclones would rally back with a pair of goals.
Jace Childs would send the visitors into the first intermission up 3-2 though, with under 90 seconds to play in the first period.
Iowa State would tie the game back up to start the second, but the Warriors would score four unanswered goals, with Childs notching two more tallies for his first hat trick of the season to close out the 7-3 win.
Slavik made 37 saves in net to help the Orange and Black end the semester with just a shootout loss blemish on their record.
Tech (15-0-1) returns to action on January 5 as they travel to Fremont, Nebraska for a weekend set with future NAIA Division member Midland.
