FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 10-ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team won their third straight game on Friday night as they defeated Concordia, 77-62, in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action at the Schaefer Center.
Keanna Gary led all scorers with a season-high 25 points and 12 rebounds on 11-14 shooting while
Haley Cook added 20 points (7-11 FG, 5-9 3-PT FG) and three steals.
DeAnn Kauffman chipped in 13 points off the bench and
Kendall Knapke had nine rebounds and two blocks.
Both teams would struggle on the offensive end in the first three minutes of the game, combining to go 0-7 from the field before
Bella Lozano-Dobbs put Tech on the board first at the 7:12 mark in the first. Both sides would trade baskets over the next two minutes, with the Cardinals holding 9-8 advantage at the 5:03 mark before exploding for a 12-0 run to take a 21-8 lead and ended the quarter leading 21-13.
The Orange and Black would start to chip away at the lead in the second, with back-to-back three pointers from Kauffman cutting the deficit to five at 31-26 with five minutes left until the half. The visitors would respond with five quick point to grow the lead back to double digits, but Tech would close the half on an 11-5 run to head into the locker room trailing 41-37.
A 7-2 run from Concordia would begin the second half and put the Cardinals up 48-39 just 90 seconds into the third quarter. The hosts would not be phased though, fighting back with a 12-4 spurt to take a 53-52 with 2:48 left in the period.
Leading 56-54 at the end of the third, the Warriors would send Gary down to work to begin the fourth as the senior center scored the first six points of the quarter with back-to-back old-fashioned three-point plays while a fast-break jumper from Cook would make it a 64-54 game with 7:25 remaining in the game.
The Cardinals would stop the run with a pair of free throws, but Cook would knock down three triples to spark a 13-3 run and give the Warriors an 18-point lead as they cruised to the 77-62 win.
Tech (12-2, 6-1 WHAC) steps out of conference action on Sunday as they host Wright State – Lake. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. from the Schaefer Center.
