Box Score HAZELWOOD, Mo. – The Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team won its sixth game in a row on Saturday afternoon as they defeated NAIA Division foe Lindenwood-Belleville, 4-3, in overtime at the iceZone.
"They came out hard again but we were able to keep our composure and battle back," head coach
Frank DiCristofaro said. "Larry (
Zach Larson) made some huge saves in net, especially in overtime to give us a chance to win. I was really happy with our overall poise as a team today."
Jace Childs would net his seventh game-winning goal of the season, and third in overtime, at 3:07 in the overtime to complete the sweep of the Lynx.
Lindenwood-Belleville would take a 2-0 lead after the first period, but the Warriors would battle back with a power play goal from
Zach Bennett in the second and scores from
Jarrett Pfeiffer and
Jimmie Kotilainen just 49 seconds apart in the third to take a 3-2 lead. The Lynx would not go down quietly though, tying the game up at 17:32 to force the overtime session.
Larson made 24 saves in net to pick up the win while
Dominick Manochio, Childs,
Mike Tish,
Matt Walton,
Nick Papandrea and Pfeiffer all recorded assists.
Tech (13-0-1) concludes their fall semester schedule next weekend as they travel to ACHA Division 1 No. 11-ranked Iowa State for a two-game set. Puck drop is set for 8:30 p.m. EST from the Ames Ice Arena.
