Box Score HAZELWOOD, Mo. – The Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team returned from their Thanksgiving break on Friday night and defeated NAIA Division foe Lindenwood-Belleville, 7-3, at the iceZone, for their fourth win in a row.
"We didn't have the start we wanted, but did recover well," head coach
Frank DiCristofaro said. "I think this game was the most physicality we've seen in a while and the guys responded the way we hoped. We need to start on time tomorrow and come with the same approach we had today from the midway point of the first period on."
The Lynx would jump out to a 2-0 lead 11 minutes into the game, taking advantage of a power play opportunity for their first goal at 6:16 before doubling their lead five minutes later. The Warriors would respond quickly though, with
Brian Skillicorn putting the visitors on the scoreboard at 12:46 in the first while
Jace Childs knotted the game up at 2-2 at 14:30.
Childs would give Tech the lead just 58 seconds into the second period to kick-start a three-goal period for the Orange and Black as they took a 5-2 lead into the second intermission.
Blake Cudmore and
Jimmie Kotilainen would score Tech's fourth and fifth goals, respectively.
Lindenwood-Belleville would cut the deficit to 5-3 at 4:45 in the third with their second power play goal of the night, but
Zach Bennett would restore the Warriors three-goal lead just 41 seconds later while
Alex Gregorich capped the scoring at 14:03 to give Tech a 7-3 win.
John Slavik made 29 saves in net for Tech while
Ryan Attwood, Bennett, Childs, Gregorich,
Jarrett Pfeiffer (3x),
Stavros Soilis and
Mike Tish all recorded assists.
Tech (12-0-1) concludes their weekend set with Lindenwood-Belleville on Saturday. Puck drop is set for 4:50 p.m. EST from the iceZone.
