LIMA, Ohio – The No. 22-ranked Indiana Tech men's basketball team fell to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) rival University of Northwestern Ohio, 85-73, on Saturday afternoon at Racer Gymnasium.
Miles Robinson led the Warriors with a team-high 24 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Scott Schwieterman added 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds while
Jantzen Goodwin and
Lavonte Davis chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively. Goodwin would add three assists while Davis grabbed six rebounds.
The two teams would trade baskets through the first four minutes of the game, with the Racers holding 10-3 advantage at the 16:33 mark, but the Warriors would respond with an 8-2 run to take a 15-12 lead with 10:45 left in the first half.
With five minutes left in the opening half the Orange and Black would go on a 16-14 run to take a 38-35 lead into the locker room at half time.
UNOH would open the second half on an 8-3 run, but Tech would counter with triples from Robinson and Goodwin to take a 47-46 lead with 15:12 left in the game. Lawrence Jackson, who would score 26 of his game-high 35 points in the second half, would respond with two three-pointers of his own to spark a 13-0 run from the hosts, with Jackson scoring 11 points during the stretch as the Racers held a 59-47 lead with 13:22 on the clock.
Coach
John Peckinpaugh's team would use an 8-4 run to cut the deficit to 63-55 with 10:19 to go, but Northwestern Ohio would hold the Warriors at bay in the final 10 minutes of the game, outscoring the visitors 22-18 to send Tech to its second loss in its last four games.
Tech (20-8, 15-5 WHAC) concludes its three-game road trip on Wednesday as they travel to Marygrove for its final road game of the regular season. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. from Detroit's Northwest Activities Center.
