DETROIT – The No. 22-ranked Indiana Tech men's basketball team dropped it second road game in a row on Wednesday evening as they fell to Marygrove, 100-88, at the Northwest Activities Center in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC).
Miles Robinson led all scorers with 28 points while grabbing a team-best seven rebounds.
Lavonte Davis and
Jantzen Goodwin both scored 12 points each, with the former grabbing five rebounds, while
Max Huber scored a season-best 10 points off the bench.
Scott Schwieterman and
CJ Bussey each added eight points each.
Tech jumped out to a 13-5 run in the first five minutes of the game, with
Jantzen Goodwin capping the run with back-to-back three-pointers. The Warriors would hold an eight-point lead with 12:15 to go in the first half, but a 10-2 spurt from the Mustangs would tie the game up at 21 with 9:48 on the clock.
Bussey would hit a pair of three-pointers to spark a 10-3 run for the Orange and Black, but the hosts would go on 10-2 run to take a 34-33 with just under four minutes to go in the first half and go into the locker room leading 38-37.
Marygrove would use a 12-5 run in the first three minutes of the second half to take a 50-42 lead before going on a 14-2 spurt to open up a 64-46 advantage with 13 minutes left in the game. The Mustangs would increase their lead to as many as 25 points in the final 10 minutes of the second half as they won their fifth straight game and dropped the Orange and Black into third place in the WHAC.
Tech (20-9, 15-6 WHAC) concludes the regular season on Saturday as they host No. 10-ranked Davenport on Saturday for Senior Day. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. from the Schaefer Center and Senior Day festivities will take place prior to the game.
