Box Score KENT, Ohio – The No. 23-ranked and fourth-seeded Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team defeated No. 21-ranked and fifth-seeded Rochester College, 6-3, in the quarterfinals of the Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League (GLHCL) Tournament on Friday morning at the Kent State Ice Arena.
"I'm really happy with our effort today as we were able to play through adversity and come out on top," head coach
Frank DiCristofaro, said.
Rochester would get on the scoreboard first with 9:21 on the clock, while
Ryan Theisen would knot it up at one at the 9:25 mark in the second. After the Crimson and White retook the lead at 8:42 in the period, the Orange and Black would counter with three consecutive goals in the last 6:40 of the period, with
Jarrett Pfeiffer,
Brian Skillicorn and
Quentin Holmes all lighting the lamp for Tech, with Pfeiffer and Holmes' goals coming on the power play, as they took a 4-2 lead.
The Warriors would tack on another goal at the 12:12 mark to extend their lead to 5-2 with
Brett Lervold tallying the score while Theisen would notch an empty-netter with 12 seconds to go for his second goal of the game.
Theisen would add two assists to finish with four points on the day while
Anthony Passarelli added a pair of assists as well.
Chet Tooker would pick up the win in net with 29 saves.
Tech (17-19-1) will third-seeded Michigan-Dearborn in the GLCHL semifinals on Saturday at either 11:15 a.m. from the Kent State Ice Arena.
