GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The No. 5-ranked Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team opened Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play on Tuesday afternoon with a 17-10 win over Aquinas at the Aquinas Athletic Field.
Tech would rattle off seven straight goals in the first 17 minutes of the game, with
Heidi Tremaine recording a hat trick during the stretch. Following a woman-up goal from the Saints at the 11:58 mark, the Warriors would close the half with four goals in the final seven minutes and 12 seconds to take an 11-1 lead into the locker room at the half.
The hosts would outscore the Orange and Black 9-6 in the second half, with four coming in the first 10 minutes of the half, but the visitors respond with four goals of their own in the next 10 minutes as they held on to the 17-10 victory.
Tremaine scored a game-high five goals while
Sam Vikstrom added four goals, eight ground balls, seven caused turnovers, and five draw controls.
Bailey Childs picked up five ground balls and caused two turnovers while
Kristina Scott added three goals.
Sydney Davis made five saves in the win.
Tech (3-0) returns to nonconference action on Thursday, March 9, as they head south to Kentucky for a matchup with Asbury. Opening draw is set for 5 p.m. from the Asbury Lacrosse Field.
