Warriors Ground Cardinals with Strong Second Half

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 20-ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team won its sixth straight game as they held off a strong challenge from Concordia (Mich.) with a 66-49 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Schaefer Center.

Keanna Gary notched her 18th double-double of the season with a game-high 24 points and 19 rebounds while recording three assists, three blocks and three steals. Haley Cook added 22 points, five assists and four rebounds while Taylor Seiss chipped in 10 points. Kendall Knapke would add six points, five rebounds and four steals.

The Warriors would open the first quarter on fire from three-point range, draining five of their 10 attempts with Seiss, Knapke, Cook and Bella Lozano-Dobbs all connecting from downtown as Tech closed the quarter on a 12-5 run to head into the first intermission leading 17-10.

The Orange and Black would find themselves on the opposite end of the spectrum in the second quarter however, going just 2-15 from the field and failing to connect on any of their five three-point attempts while the Cardinals would outscore the hosts 17-9 to take a 27-26 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Warriors would turn to Gary and Seiss in the third quarter as the former Leo High School teammates would combine for 15 of the team's 18 points, with the former going 6-6 from the free throw line and the latter hitting all three of her shot attempts to give Tech a 44-37 lead heading into the fourth.

Coach Jessie Biggs would continue to feed Gary the ball in the fourth as the junior scored 10 more points while Cook would get going from downtown with a 3-4 performance, while the team would limit the Cardinals to just 37.5% shooting from the floor and just 12 points in the final quarter as the Warriors avenged a December loss to the visitors.

Tech (19-6, 14-4 WHAC) travels to Lawrence Tech on Wednesday to start a quick two-game road trip. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. from Don Ridler Field House.
