SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The No. 18-ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team won its seventh straight game on Wednesday evening as they defeated Lawrence Tech, 72-55, at Don Ridler Field House to sweep the season series and win its 20
th game of the season
Keanna Gary notched her 19
th double-double of the season with a game-high 22 points and 13 rebounds while picking up three steals.
Haley Cook added 17 points, six rebounds and four assists while
Taylor Seiss chipped in 14 points.
Baylee Rinehart added 10 points off the bench.
The Warriors would start the game on a 5-0 lead, but the Blue Devils would respond with an 8-2 lead to take the lead with 4:59 left in the first quarter. A three-pointer from Seiss though would spark a 17-8 run to end the period and give Tech a 24-16 lead at the first intermission.
Lawrence Tech would cut the deficit to six with 4:59 left in the second quarter, but the Orange and Black responded with a 9-0 spurt to give the visitors a 38-24 lead with 90 seconds to go until halftime as the Warriors would enter the locker room leading 43-28.
Tech would push its lead to as many as 19 in the third quarter while limiting the Blue Devils to just 12 points for the second straight period. The hosts would end the quarter strong though as they held the Warriors scoreless over the last 3:27 of the quarter while cutting the deficit to 55-39 heading into the fourth quarter.
The two teams would trade off the first five baskets of the final period before Coach
Jessie Biggs' team used an 11-0 run to pull away from LTU for good as they held a 24-point lead with 3:52 left to play.
Tech (20-6, 15-4 WHAC) continues its quick two game road trip on Saturday as they drive to Lima, Ohio for a matchup with Northwestern Ohio. Tip off is set for 1 p.m. from Racer Gymnasium.
