Warriors Pick Up Split Against Saints

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Indiana Tech softball split a doubleheader against Our Lady of the Lake on Wednesday afternoon, falling, 4-0, in game one before coming back to win game two, 6-0, at the OLLU Softball Field.

The Saints would get out to a 1-0 lead on their first batter of the afternoon as Kristina Tiffany would send a home run of the left field fence on a 2-1 count before adding two more runs in the second to make it a 3-0 ballgame and chasing starter Alexis Vargo from the game.

OLLU would tack on another run in the fifth while limiting the Warriors to just four hits and just three base-runners would reach scoring position as the hosts took game one, 4-0. Caitlyn Walter and Lauren Ohnesorge would each record a double.

It was Tech's turn to turn on the offense in the night cap, pounding out nine hits and doing most of their damage in the sixth inning, scoring four runs on three hits and taking advantage of a Saints error. Following back-to-back hits from Selena Schulteis and Keauna Schultz, a misplay by OLLU's third baseman would allow Schulteis to score while a double from Lauren Ohnesorge would make it a 6-0 game as two more runners scored.

Tori Simper picked up her second win in two days as she went 5.1 innings in the circle and scattering three hits.

Tech (2-13-1) continues their Texas tour on Thursday as they battle Concordia (Texas) in a single seven-inning game at Tornado Softball Stadium in Austin. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m. EDT.
