Tech Falls to Foresters in Weather-Altered Game

HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana Tech baseball team had its plans changed by Mother Nature once again as cold temperatures and inclement conditions in Grand Rapids, Michigan forced the postponed of its scheduled doubleheader with Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) foe Cornerstone, but the Warriors would be quick on the trigger as they made the short trip to regional foe Huntington on Saturday afternoon, falling 4-2 at Forest Glen Park.

The Foresters would strike in the bottom of the third as Shea Beauchamp delivered a one-out two-RBI double before coming around to score two batters later to make it a 3-0 ball game. Beauchamp would through for the hosts again in the fourth as he knocked in Dalton Combs for his third RBI of the afternoon with a single through the left side of the infield.

The Warriors offense would find their rhythm in the seventh as they pushed across a pair of runs to cut the deficit to 4-2 as Taylor Nychk and Glen McClain delivered RBI singles, but Tech would strand runners at second and third to end the inning.

Huntington would allow just two more visitor base runners to reach as they used nine pitchers in the game for the victory, using a different pitcher in each inning.

Tech (16-7) will now look to make up their altered series with Cornerstone on Tuesday with a doubleheader contest. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. from DeWitt Field.
