ADRIAN, Mich. – The No. 3-ranked Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team defeated No. 10-ranked Siena Heights, 14-9, on Saturday afternoon at O'Laughlin Stadium in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play.
The Saints would race out to a quick 2-0 lead over the Warriors, scoring twice in the opening two minutes of the game. Tech would counter back with goals at 24:14 and 22:44 from
Dakota Dawson and
Bailey Childs to tie the game up at two, but the hosts would answer with two straight goals of their own.
Jennifer Banks would start a three-goal streak for the Orange and Black, but the Saints would not be shaken and took an 8-7 lead into the locker room at the half.
McKenna Mesclier would score a pair of man-up goals in the first five minutes of the second half to give the Warriors a 9-8 lead en route to seven straight goals from Tech in the second half, while the Warriors' defense would force 16 turnovers from Siena Heights to come away with the 14-9 win.
Childs would finish with a team-high four goals while Dawson and Mesclier would each record a hat trick.
Sam Vikstrom finished with nine ground balls, eight caused turnovers and six draw controls while Childs added five caused turnovers and seven ground balls.
Sydney Davis would make a career-high 15 saves in net for Tech, including nine in the second half.
Tech (6-0, 2-0 WHAC) returns to action Monday as they travel to Livonia, Michigan for a battle with WHAC newcomer Madonna. Opening draw is set for 5 p.m. from the Madonna Athletic Complex.
