Tech Outlasts Wolverines to Stay Perfect in Conference Play

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 10-ranked Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team improved to 3-0 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action as they defeated University of Michigan-Dearborn, 18-12, on Saturday afternoon at Warrior Athletic Field.
 
Tied 2-2 heading into the last four minutes of the first quarter, the Wolverines would score two goals in the last 74 seconds to take a 4-3 lead into the first intermission and open the second period with a goal just nine seconds in to extend the lead to 5-3.
 
The Warriors would respond with three consecutive goals though to make it a 6-5 game with 6:54 left in the first half, with Noah Puckett scoring with Tech a man-down to tie it up at 5-5. UM-Dearborn, who finished the game 6-13 on extra-man opportunities, would score three in the third quarter to take a 10-9 lead with 4:52 left in the quarter, but the Orange and Black would answer with eight consecutive goals over the next 10 minutes to take control of the game with a 17-10 advantage with 9:42 remaining in the game.
 
Jace Childs recorded a hat trick in the fourth quarter and finished the game with five goals, while Will McKinney also added five goals. Childs would grab a team-high 11 ground balls along with Lee Raymond, who went 23-30 in the faceoff circle. Noah Puckett and Chandler Peterson would each tally a hat trick while Puckett and McKinney dished out a game-high four assists each. Joe Dosen made 16 saves in goal for the win.
 
Tech (7-2, 3-0 WHAC) returns to action Wednesday as they host No. 2-ranked Lourdes in a lacrosse doubleheader. Opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field and will follow a women's lacrosse contest featuring the Warrior and Gray Wolves women's teams.
