ADRIAN, Mich. – The No. 8-ranked Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team fell to No. 10-ranked Siena Heights, 14-10, on Saturday evening in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play at O'Laughlin Stadium.
The Saints would get out to the early lead as they scored three goals in the opening eight minutes of the game. The hosts would add two more goals before the end of the period, but
Brandon Gates would cut the deficit back to three with a goal with just eight seconds left in the quarter.
Siena Heights would take an 8-4 lead into the locker room at the half, but the Warriors would quickly cut the deficit to two in the third with goals from
Will McKinney and
Jace Childs just four minutes into the second half.
The hosts would counter back with three unanswered goals though to extend the lead to 11-6. Tech would respond with a 3-0 spurt of their own to close the third and open the fourth quarter, but the Saints would score twice in the final six minutes while limiting the Orange and Black to just one shot on goal and forcing three turnovers.
McKinney scored four times to lead the team while adding four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Childs chipped in two goals, two assists, five ground balls and two caused turnovers while
Brandon Gates and
Chandler Peterson contributing two goals each.
Tech (8-3, 4-1 WHAC) returns to action Wednesday as they travel to No. 5-ranked Lawrence Tech. Opening faceoff is set for 1 p.m. from LTU Athletic Fields.
