Tech Swept by Saints

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Indiana Tech softball team was swept by Siena Heights in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) doubleheader Saturday, falling 6-2 and 10-5 in a pair of "home games" at Christensen Memorial Softball Field.

The home team on the scoreboard as the games were originally supposed to be played at Indiana Tech, the Warriors would take the early lead as Alexis Vargo drove in Caitlyn Walter with a sacrifice fly to center in the bottom of the second. The Saints would come right back though with three runs in the third to take the lead.

Siena Heights would add another three-spot in the fourth with a bases-clearing double to extend their lead to 6-1. Lauren Ohnesorge would drive in Brianna Glass in the fifth to cut the deficit to 6-2, but the Orange and Black would leave the bases loaded in the sixth as the "visitors" hung on to the win.

Tech would again take the early lead in game two as Madison Ohnesorge would score on a wild pitch after leading off the first with a single. The Saints would come back quickly though as they scored five runs on five hits in the top of the second, with four of their runs coming with two outs as they chased starter Tori Simper.

Three more runs in the third and the Saints would go ahead 8-1, but the Warriors would slowly chip away at the lead, scoring once in the fourth and three times in the fifth as Lauren Ohnesorge had a two-RBI double and Hannah Foltz launched a two-run homer to cut the deficit to 10-5.

Siena Heights would not allow another runner into scoring position though, as they completed the sweep with the 10-5 victory.

Tech (3-21-1, 0-4 WHAC) travels to Grand Rapids, Michigan Sunday for a doubleheader with Aquinas. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. from West Catholic High School.
