GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech softball team was swept by Aquinas on Sunday afternoon in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) doubleheader, falling 8-3, and 7-1, at West Catholic High School.
 
The Warriors would be the home team on the scoreboard for the second day in a row as the series was scheduled to be played at Tech. The Saints would chase starter Alexis Vargo in the first inning as they scored just four batters into the game, but Jamie Conrad would get out the jam with a 625 double play.
 
A two-run homer from Aquinas would extend the lead to 3-0 in the third while they doubled the lead fourth. Trailing 8-1 in the seventh, Caitlyn Walter would smash a two-run homer to left center to cut the deficit to five with nobody out, but the Saints would retire the next three batters to take game one.
 
Tech would respond to a first inning run by Aquinas as Lauren Ohnesorge drove in Brianna Glass with a single to center, but the visitors on the scoreboard would counter with three runs in the second and three more in the fifth to take a commanding 7-1 lead while completing the sweep.
 
Tech (3-23-1, 0-6 WHAC) returns to action Wednesday as they travel to Livonia, Michigan for a doubleheader with Madonna. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m. from University Field.
