SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Indiana Tech softball team split with Lourdes on Saturday afternoon at Pacesetter Park, winning game one, 5-3, while falling in six innings in game two, 8-0, in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action.
Trailing 3-2 heading into the seventh, the Warriors would tie the game up a three with one out as
Brianna Glass singled in
Ali LeNoue from third.
Caitlyn Walter would then give the visitors the lead two batters later as she drove in two runs with a single to right center to score Glass and
Lindsey Delana.
The Gray Wolves would threaten right away though in the bottom of the inning with a leadoff single, but
Maggie McCrory would come in and strand the runner at second by getting all three outs in the inning to give Tech and head coach
Stephanie Zimny its first win in WHAC play.
Lourdes would strike quickly in game two as they scored three runs, all coming on two outs, in their half of the first. The hosts would tack on three more runs in the fourth to make it a 6-0 game before going on another two-out rally in the seventh to push across two more runs and clinching the nightcap, 8-0.
LeNoue had four hits on the afternoon while Glass and Walter had two RBI's in the first contest.
Tech (4-29-1, 1-10 WHAC) returns to action Thursday as they host Cornerstone on Senior Day. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. from the Fort Wayne Softball Field on the campus of IPFW.
