FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 4-ranked Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team fell to No. 3-ranked Lawrence Tech, 17-10, on Wednesday evening at Warrior Athletic Field in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play.
The Blue Devils would get out to a 2-0 lead as they scored just 14 seconds apart eight minutes into the game, but the Warriors would respond with a pair of goals in the next 90 seconds to tie the game.
Just as quickly as the game was tied, the visitors would retake the lead with goals at the 20:09 and 16:41 mark to retake a two-goal lead. Tech would cut the deficit to 6-5 with just under nine minutes left in the half, but Lawrence Tech would score twice in the last five minutes to take an 8-5 lead into the half.
Dakota Dawson and
Kristina Scott would put balls into the back of the net just 61 and 110 seconds into the second half to make it an 8-7 game, but LTU would go on a 5-0 run over the next six minutes to take a 13-7 lead.
Tech would come to within four goals at 14-10 with 8:44 left in the game, but the visitors would close the game on a 3-0 spurt to sweep the season series.
Sam Vikstrom led the Warriors with three goals, two assists, five ground balls, four caused turnovers and three draw controls while Scott and
Jennifer Banks added two goals each. Scott and
Bailey Childs would each get three draw controls and
Mackenzie Barnes picked up four ground balls.
Tech (12-4, 8-4 WHAC) returns to action Friday as they host Madonna in their penultimate game of the regular season. Opening draw is set for 5 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field.
