Warriors Swept by Wolverines in Saturday Twin Bill

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Indiana Tech softball team dropped a pair of games to University of Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field, falling 7-2 in game one and 13-7 in game two.

The Wolverines jumped out to a 6-0 lead over the Warriors in the first two innings, scoring three runs in the first and three in the second and smashing three homers in the two frames. Hannah Foltz would drive in Madison Ohnesorge in the fourth with a sacrifice fly while Kelsey Robinson would knock in Ohnesorge in the sixth with a single to right to make it a 7-2 game, but the visitors would strand runners on second and third with nobody out in seventh to drop the opening game.

Foltz would give Tech a 1-0 lead in the top of the first in game two, but the Wolverines would take advantage of three walks, an error and a passed ball while using a grand slam to take a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the inning.

Emily Martin would cut the deficit to 5-3 in the second with a two-run homer and Alexis Vargo brought the Orange and Black within a run with an RBI groundout, but the hosts would come back with two home runs in the bottom of the second to extend the lead to 8-4 and added four more in the third to get out to a 12-5 lead and hold on for the sweep.

Foltz, Ali LeNoue, and Martin would all record homers in the game while Martin and Vargo added doubles.

Tech (3-26-1, 0-9 WHAC) concludes a busy weekend Sunday as they travel to Cleary for a doubleheader nonconference matchup. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. from Parker Sports Complex.
