Panthers Outlast Warriors in Top-Three Matchup

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 3-ranked Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team fell to No. 2-ranked Davenport, 15-14, in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action on Saturday afternoon at Warrior Athletic Field.
 
Trailing 14-12 with 12:58 left in the second half, the Warriors would score twice over the next three and a half minutes to the game the game up at 14 with 9:14 left in the game with Sam Vikstrom and Kristina Scott providing the goals.
 
The Panthers would control the pace over the next four minutes and would score go-ahead goal with 5:01 on the clock as Tara Pluger would take the ball away from Sydney Davis on the clear attempt and convert on the turnover opportunity.
 
Tech would get three shots on goal in the final 3:12 of the game, with Sam Vikstrom having an opportunity to tie the game with 11 seconds left, but was stopped by Samantha Powers and the Panthers completed the series sweep of the Orange and Black and sent them to their second straight loss.
 
Heidi Tremaine led the Warriors with five goals while Scott and Vikstrom each had a hat trick. Vikstrom would add 10 ground balls, six caused turnovers, four draw controls and two assists. Sydney Davis made 11 saves and picked up seven ground balls.
 
Tech (11-3, 7-3 WHAC) returns to action Wednesday as they travel to Sylvania, Ohio for a matchup with Lourdes. Opening draw is set for 4 p.m. from Wildcat Stadium.
