NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team concluded a busy week of action as they defeated regional rival Manchester, 5-0, on Sunday afternoon at Dave Good Field inside the Spartan Soccer Complex for their first shutout of the year.
The Warriors jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead over their NCAA Division III foe, with
Shelby Lucas opening up the scoring in the 10
th minute while
Sydney Lemelin scoring 10 minutes later off a free kick.
Tori Singstock made it 3-0 game in the 38
th minute while
Marina Steffke notched her first goal of the season in 49
th minute to increase Tech's lead to four. Lucas would record her second goal of the afternoon in the 72
nd minute to complete the scoring for the Orange and Black.
Freshman goalkeeper
Christina Wynn made four saves in her first collegiate start to pick up the win and shutout while the Warrior defense limited the Spartans to just nine shots in all.
Lily Rothert,
Sediqa Nedam,
Kyndall Pursley and Singstock all recorded one assist in the match while Lucas had four shots on frame. Tech finished with 13 shots on goal and 36 in all.
Tech (3-2) returns to action on Tuesday as they start a three-game home stand by hosting Trinity Christian. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field.
