Singstock’s Overtime Goal Gives Warriors First Win on Senior Night

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team earned their first win of the season on Saturday night as they defeated IU East, 2-1, in overtime in nonconference action on Senior Night at Warrior Athletic Field.

Senior Tori Singstock played the hero role as she recorded her first goal of the season and 55th of her career just 21 seconds into overtime, blasting one from the top of the box into the upper 90 to send the host crowd and team home happy in their home opener.

The Warriors would strike first in the contest as well with Marina Steffke striking out from 16 yards out 26 seconds into the second half to give Tech the 1-0 lead. The Red Wolves would recover from a red card six minutes later and came back to tie the match up in the 61st minute.

Tech would turn up the offensive pressure on the visitors after the tying goal with five shots on goal as they tried to end the game in regulation, but IU East keeper Kirsten Winter would come up big for the Red Wolves with five saves to keep the game tied.

The Warriors would outshoot the Red Wolves 20-7 and hold a 12-4 edge in shots on net, with Singstock leading all players with 11 shots on goal. She now sits 11 goals behind former standout Kara Walker for the most goals in program history. Chloe Parker would pick up the first win of her collegiate career with three nets in goal.

Tech (1-1-0) returns to action on Tuesday as they host Huntington in a nonconference matchup. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field.
