FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team defeated Concordia 3-2 at Tech Field in its 2017 WHAC opener, overcoming an early 1-0 deficit to start conference play with a win for the first time since 2012 - also a 3-2 home win - over Siena Heights.
After the Cardinals netted through Julia Palushaj in the 14
th minute, Tech rallied for two goals in the remaining 31 minutes of the first half to hold a 2-1 advantage at the break. Sophomore
Kelsey Combs expertly placed the equalizer into the top corner from 25 yards at 21:47 before a
Sydney Lemelin free kick bounced over the head over Cardinal keeper Maria Lulgjuraj in the 37
th minute.
The visitors started the second 45 minutes with a purpose, tying the game at 2-2 through Sydney Rouse. The Orange and Black, didn't fold however, and
Tori Singstock added yet another game-winning goal to her resume, finishing off a counter-attack with a cool finish in the 59
th minute.
CU mounted a furious rally over the game's final 30 minutes, but
Christina Wynn was up to the task, finishing the game with an eye-popping 14 saves.
Indiana Tech looks to extend its WHAC winning streak to two games in a 3 PM match at UM-Dearborn on Tuesday, Sept. 26. The match will take place at Gabriel Richard High School in Riverview, Mich.
