Warriors Grab Three Points from WHAC Opener

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team defeated Concordia 3-2 at Tech Field in its 2017 WHAC opener, overcoming an early 1-0 deficit to start conference play with a win for the first time since 2012 - also a 3-2 home win - over Siena Heights.

After the Cardinals netted through Julia Palushaj in the 14th minute, Tech rallied for two goals in the remaining 31 minutes of the first half to hold a 2-1 advantage at the break. Sophomore Kelsey Combs expertly placed the equalizer into the top corner from 25 yards at 21:47 before a Sydney Lemelin free kick bounced over the head over Cardinal keeper Maria Lulgjuraj in the 37th minute.

The visitors started the second 45 minutes with a purpose, tying the game at 2-2 through Sydney Rouse. The Orange and Black, didn't fold however, and Tori Singstock added yet another game-winning goal to her resume, finishing off a counter-attack with a cool finish in the 59th minute.

CU mounted a furious rally over the game's final 30 minutes, but Christina Wynn was up to the task, finishing the game with an eye-popping 14 saves.

Indiana Tech looks to extend its WHAC winning streak to two games in a 3 PM match at UM-Dearborn on Tuesday, Sept. 26. The match will take place at Gabriel Richard High School in Riverview, Mich.
