FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team fell to ACHA Division I No. 5-ranked Robert Morris (Ill.), 5-2, on Friday evening at the SportONE/Parkview Ice House in their spring semester home opener.
The Eagles would score the first two goals of the game at 5:13 in the first and 17:26 in the second, but the Warriors would gain some momentum off a short-handed goal from
Alex Gregorich at 8:38 in the second to make it a 2-1 game.
Robert Morris would counter back with a power play goal at 16:23 in the third and while
Jimmie Kotilainen would make cut the deficit down to 3-2 at the 11:30 mark with a sniper shot in the slot, the number five team in the ACHA's top division would come right back with their fourth goal of the night 38 seconds later and capped off the scoring with their second power play goal of the evening with 3:07 left in the game.
Nick Papandrea got the assist on the Gregorich goal while
Chet Tooker 37 saves in net for the Warriors.
Tech returns to action on Saturday as they conclude their weekend set with Robert Morris. Puck drop is set for 5:30 p.m. from the SportONE/Parkview Ice House.
