Warriors Roll Over Saints for Tenth Straight Win

ADRIAN, Mich. – The No. 9-ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team improved its winning streak to 10 games on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) foe Siena Heights, 71-54, to complete the season sweep, at the SHU Fieldhouse.

Kendall Knapke led the Warriors with 15 points and six rebounds while DeAnn Kauffman added 13 points off the bench. Bella Lozano-Dobbs and Rachel Bell each scored a career-high 12 points while Bell grabbed seven rebounds. Keanna Gary grabbed a season-high 16 rebounds and five assists while adding six points.

Tech would race out to a 7-2 lead over the Saints, who would come back to tie it up at 7-7 with 5:37 left in the first quarter, but a three-pointer from Lozano-Dobbs would give the visitors the lead back for good with 5:16 to go in the quarter. Tech would head into the first break leading 19-13 while they held the hosts scoreless for the last 3:34 of the period.

Lozano-Dobbs would start the second quarter with back-to-back baskets to give Tech an 11-point lead with 8:09 on the clock. Siena Heights would cut the deficit down to seven four times in the period and headed into the locker room trailing 31-24 as they held the Warriors scoreless for the last 3:48 of the half.

The Saints would come out of the locker room strong to start the second half as they cut the deficit down to two points, but couldn't get the game tied or take the lead as Tech responded with a basket every time the hosts got within a possession and headed into the fourth quarter leading 49-44.

A three-pointer from Baylee Rinehart and an old fashioned three-point play from Kauffman would give the Orange and Black and 11-point lead at 55-44 with 8:07 to go in regulation. Tech would maintain their double-digit advantage throughout the final quarter as they limited the Saints to 4-17 shooting from the field while extending their lead to as many as 20 points as they came away with the 71-54 win.

Tech (19-2, 10-1 WHAC) returns to action on Wednesday as they travel to Livonia, Michigan to battle Madonna. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. from the Activities Center.
