DEARBORN, Mich. – The No. 8-ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team won its program-best 15
th consecutive game on Wednesday evening as they defeated the University of Michigan-Dearborn, 76-43, at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
Haley Cook led all players with a game-high 25 points and tacked on five rebounds and five assists.
Keanna Gary added 24 points and 16 rebounds to collect her 18
th double-double of the season while dishing out four assists.
Kendall Knapke chipped in six points and four rebounds while
Bella Lozano-Dobbs had five points, six rebounds and three assists.
The Wolverines took the first lead of the game off a three-pointer from Megan Swick and held a 5-3 lead with 7:44 to play in the first half. A bucket from Gary tied the game up at 5-5 while a triple from Cook would give Tech the lead as the visitors went on a 20-0 run over the next six minutes, with the two All-Americans scoring every point for the Orange and Black. UM-Dearborn would break a 6:41 scoring drought with a jumper at the 1:03 mark in the quarter, but the Warriors would hold a 25-8 lead at the first quarter break.
The hosts started the second on a 12-4 run to cut the deficit down to 29-17 with six minutes left on the clock, but Tech countered with a 7-0 run to run the lead back up to 19 points. The Orange and Black would increase their lead to as many as 20 points in the half before entering the locker room leading 41-23.
The Warriors would turn up the defensive pressure in the second half as they limited the Wolverines to just 8-30 (26.7%) shooting from the floor and outscored the hosts 35-20 in the final 20 minutes of play. Tech would grow its lead to as many as 36 points while they came away with the 76-43 win.
Tech (24-2, 15-1 WHAC) returns to action Saturday as they travel to Rochester for a 1 p.m. tip-off from Garth Pleasant Arena.
