Late Goal Sends Racers Past Warriors

LIMA, Ohio – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team battled tough but fell to No. 22-ranked University of Northwestern Ohio, 3-2, Wednesday afternoon at Warrior Athletic Field in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action.

Lily Rothert opened the scoring early with her fourth goal of the season in the third minute as she capitalized on a bad pass from the goalkeeper to give Tech the 1-0 lead. The Racers came back to knot the match up at 1-1 in the 14th minute before taking a 2-1 advantage in the 42nd minute.

Marina Steffke tied the game up at 2-2 in the 53rd minute to put the pressure back on the WHAC leaders, but the hosts would take a 3-2 lead in the 86th minute to come away with the hard-fought victory.

Rothert notched the assist on Steffke's goal while Ally Zenda made eight saves in the loss.

Tech (4-11-0, 3-5-0 WHAC) returns to action on Friday as they travel to Rochester College. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. from Ultimate Soccer Arena.
