FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 5-ranked Indiana Tech men's basketball team defeated No. 16-ranked University of Saint Francis (Ind.), 87-75, on Saturday afternoon in nonconference action inside the Schaefer Center.
Edmond Early, Jr. led all players with a career-high 23 points off the bench on 10-11 shooting while
Dylan Phair added 16 points.
Darren Groves notched his third double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds while
Logan Primerano added 10 points.
With the Warriors leading 8-7 at the 14:07 mark in the first half, Early would hit a three-pointer to start a 14-5 run for the hosts. A dunk from Groves at the 7:42 mark would bring the Schaefer Center crowd to its feet while Tech grew their advantage to 17 points and took a 40-25 lead into the half.
The Cougars cut the deficit down to nine points with 12:17 to play in the second half, but that would be as close as they would get as the Orange and Black grew their lead back up to 19 points and were never threated by their crosstown rivals. Tech earned revenge from an earlier overtime loss to USF with the 87-75 victory in their home opener.
Tech (3-3) kicks off Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action Wednesday as they travel to the University of Northwestern Ohio for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff from Racer Gymnasium.
