LIMA, Ohio – The No. 5-ranked Indiana Tech men's basketball team defeated the University of Northwestern Ohio, 83-58, on Wednesday evening inside The Garage in their Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) opener.
Logan Primerano led the Warriors with a game-high 16 points in 16 minutes while
Joel Wincowski and
Darren Groves each had 12 points. Groves grabbed a 12-best 12 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season while Wincowski had five assists.
Max Huber added 11 points and nine rebounds.
The Warriors raced out to a 10-2 lead and forcing the Racers to take a timeout three minutes into the game. Following a UNOH basket out of the timeout, Tech then stepped on the gas as they went on a 26-0 run over the next nine minutes to take a 36-4 lead. The Orange and Black forced five turnovers while UNOH went 0-12 from the field during that time. The visitors took a 43-16 lead into the half after shooting 51.7% from the floor.
Tech continued to dominate in the second half as they grew their lead to 35 points and never let the lead fall under 25 points as they won their conference opener.
Tech (4-3, 1-0 WHAC) returns to action Saturday as they host Rochester College. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. from the Schafer Center.
